❛ Here we go… ❜ comes a mutter under his breath.

It’s evident in the way she moves that she’s about to respond negatively. His gaze wanders momentarily, mentally preparing himself for the repercussions of actually telling her what she obviously needs to hear. Typical.

       ❛ I know enough. ❜

There’s clear disbelief in his expression at her reasoning.

❛ …Right, and because it’s my daughter you’re doing this for that makes you NOT a good person? Sorry, but that’s bullshit. Why are you so afraid to admit that you’re a good person? Is it an expectation thing?

it’s easy to make both AWFUL & TERRIFIC assumptions about other people. limited perspectives provide BLISSFUL ignorance, which in turn allows individuals to selectively decide on personalities. the problem with that, though, is it usually ends up being a reflection of SELF. scott lang tries to find the good in people, & that is because it is his optimism coming into play; the kindness in his heart persuades him to believe in humanity. but jessica typically sees the VILE side of that same species; all those little, terrible details that she’s picked out of her own heart.

               “ you DON’T … “

jessica’s voice FRACTURES. a hint of vulnerability breaks through the iron veil of her personality. there’s a weakness in that solid, steel structure of a woman. DISORIENTING memories come crashing back to the forefront of her mind, but she reigns them in long enough to provide a steady answer.

               “ you don’t KNOW that. “
